How much does a UK driving test cost?

Current official car driving-test fees and why you should check GOV.UK before paying.

Direct answer: As reviewed on 6 August 2026, GOV.UK lists a standard car driving test at £62 on weekdays and £75 during evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Unofficial services may charge more.

Pre-launch check: Check the DVSA publication each month and record the source date when data is refreshed.

Book through GOV.UK

Use the official booking service so that the fee and booking terms are clear. Drive Test Finder UK does not accept payment or make bookings.

Evening and weekend appointments are not always offered. Available times are shown by the official service.

Costs after an unsuccessful test

If you do not pass and want another test, GOV.UK says you must pay the full fee again. Budget for lessons and use your result feedback before choosing a new date.
